10/11: Tusita India Trust & Kathina Ceremony
Tusita India Trust established on 12th October 2010 as an irrevocable Public Charitable Trust. The Trust was registered in the Himalaya region of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India. Kuching Bhagavan Buddhist Society (KBBS) of Malaysia representatives authored the Trust. The Trust Management Committee comprises of Tusita Sangha Council members marking the first organization led by the Council outside of Malaysia. Trustees includes both KBBS representatives and locals of Himachal Pradesh. The Wheel of Dhamma turns on in India!
Many helpful locals of Himachal Pradesh and other parts of India pitched in and contributed in the Trust creation process…without their valuable support the establishment of the Trust would have been far more difficult. Plans for a meditation center in the Kullu Himalaya region are already underway…
With the three-month Rains Retreat (Vassa) concluding, weather in Chheti Village, Kullu has dropped dramatically…especially during the mornings and evenings. On the 30th of October, the Most Venerable Pa-Auk Sayadaw, the Sangha (monks), Sayalays (nuns) and laity celebrated Kathina Ceremony at the Office of Tusita India Trust. The Kathina Robe was offered to and accepted by Venerable U Nyaninda. Part of the ceremony included a Dhamma talk given by The Sayadaw in Q&A format. Among the many topics covered, The Sayadaw elucidated the origination of Kathina back in the Buddha’s time, its purpose and benefits for bhikkhus. In addition, The Sayadaw explained how to do Dana (offerings) in order to accrue best merits and also answered various meditation questions. The Sayadaw’s Kathina Dhamma talk will be uploaded soon on this website.
Pa-Auk Sayadaw, Tusita monks and nuns will depart from Chheti Village in a few weeks time. The Sayadaw will journey briefly to Na-Uyana Forest Monastery in Sri Lanka and Pa-Auk Meditation Center Singapore before arriving in Tusita Hermitage Kuching, Malaysia.
Maha Sadhus to all the monks and nuns completing Vassa in Kullu, India and Kuching, Malaysia. May all of your Noble Wishes be fulfilled.
