Dhamma Earth Kathina Ceremony 2019

Kathina Theme 2019 ☸🌻:”Giving True Benefits, Benefits Regenerate” 💕

Invitation to our Kathina Ceremony

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Dhamma,

Dhamma Earth Club of Malaysia (DECOM) cordially invite all of you to our 2019 Kathina Ceremony in Dhamma Earth, Semenyih. This year our theme is “Giving True Benefits, Benefits Regenerate”, we welcome everyone to join us in this auspicious annual event.

Please feel free to download our Kathina Ceremony invitation letter, there are more interesting story and  infos about the “Kathina Ceremony’s Origin”, “Relations between Kathina and Dāna” and our “2019 Kathina Theme – Giving True Benefits, Benefits Regenerate”.

Kathina ceremony is a ceremony organized by lay people for monks. This offering of Kathina cloth to monks is the most precious opportunity for us to make a Saṅghika-dāna. Dhamma Earth Club of Malaysia cordially invite all of you to our 2019 Kathina Ceremony. On this day, the monks and nuns will go for alms round as usual, therefore you can get first-hand experience in offering food and other allowable necessities.

The significance of the existence of the temple is to provide a platform for the four types of disciples to practise, and at the same time, let everyone plant in the unsurpassed field of merit and accumulate merits according to their own needs and that of the temple. The four types of disciples who have benefited afterwards also learn to allow many more devotees to learn, practise, realise, and protect the Dhamma while establish a wholesome start for those non-devotees. Under the cycle of Giving True Benefits, Benefits Regenerate, the continuation of the Dhamma can be propagated, and the Dhamma can exist in the world for a long time.

Dhamma Earth – “Suriya Family Day 1028” (Kathina Day)

☸ Buddha said: ‘Brahmā’ is a term for your parents. ‘First teachers’ is a term for your parents. ‘Old deities’ is a term for your parents. ‘Worthy of an offering dedicated to the gods’ is a term for your parents. Why is that? Parents are very helpful to their children, they raise them, nurture them, and show them the world.- < AN 4 : 63 >

☸ O monks, one who encourages his unbelieving parents, settles and establishes them in faith; who encourages his immoral parents, settles and establishes them in virtue; who encourages his stingy parents, settles and establishes them in generosity; who encourages his ignorant parents, settles and establishes them in wisdom—such a one, O monks, does enough for his parents: he repays them and more than repays them for what they have done.- < AN 2 : 34 >

Filial piety is not only to fulfill our parents’ sensual pleasure, materials need or physical needs, but rather to spend time to accompany them and to guide them to learn the Dhamma, meditate and walk towards the path of liberation.

🌻 In conjunction with Kathina Ceremony 2019, Dhamma Earth will bring you Suriya Family Day on this very same day. The opportunity is here for everyone in the family, young and old, to learn the Dhamma together. We welcome you and your family to participate in this wholesome event, to cultivate and elevate the faith, virtue, generosity and wisdom for your family.

On 28th Oct (Monday), please bring your family to Meditation Hall by 8:30 am. Activities dedicated for the elderly’s, elderly’s children and grandchildren include Buddha Pūjā, Sutta Chanting, Interactive Dhamma Learning Acitivies and Dhamma Talk. Kathina 2019 Theme: Giving True Benefits, Benefits Regenerate

Buddha said: “Brahmin, I don’t say that you should serve everyone, nor do I say that you shouldn’t serve anyone. Dhamma Earth 2019 Sāmaṇera & Sayalay Novitiate Program

“Monks, strive with heedfulness.
Rare is it that Buddhas arise in the world.
Rare is it that (one) obtains a human (birth).
Rare is it to have the good fortune of (being in the right) time (and place to come in contact with the Dhamma).
Rare is it that (one) is endowed with faith.
Rare is (it that there is the opportunity to take) the going forth.
Rare is (it that there is the opportunity for) listening to the Dhamma.”
Thus the Blessed One exhorted daily, thus the Well-fared One exhorted daily.

Dhamma Earth “Suriya Family Day 714”

💝 Suriya Family Day 714 🌻👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

📆 14-July-2019
🕘 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
🏕 Piṇḍapāta Hall (Register)

🌻 In one of the Boddhisatta’s life, he was a sixteen year old boy, living in the forest with his parents. Once, his parents were blinded by the snake’s venom when they were under a tree taking shelter from the rain. When he found his parents, his parents shouted, “don’t come close, son, there’s a venomous snake here!” When the Boddhisatta heard this, he cried and smiled at the same time. He cried because his parents lost their vision while they were still young and he smiled because he knew that it was time for him to practice filial piety. What have you comprehended from the Boddhisatta’s response and mindset when he had to face his parents who were unable to take care of themselves and needed to rely on him?

💕 Filial piety is not only to fulfill our parents’ sensual pleasure, materials need or physical needs, but rather to spend time to accompany them and to guide them to learn the Dhamma, meditate and walk towards the path of liberation.

It’s Suriya Family Day again and the opportunity is here for everyone in the family, young and old, to learn the Dhamma together. We welcome you and your family to participate in this wholesome event. Please bring along a stalk of flowers for the elderly to offer to the Buddha during Buddha Pūjā.

💐 On 14th July, please bring your family to register at Piṇḍapāta Hall by 9:30 am. Activities dedicated for the Old Folks’ Corner include Meditation Guide, Buddha Pūjā, Dhamma Talk entitled “Facing Death Calmly”(Mandarin), simple exercise guide and interactions with Kids. At the same time, the Venerable will be invited to share Dhamma entitled “Old Beings and Growing Old” (Mandarin) at the Adults’ Corner. The volunteer team also prepares Dhamma activities specially for the Kids’ Corner. After all the activities, we encourage family members to participate in the Lunch Dāna session, and enjoy lunch together.

Dhamma Earth 2019 Wesak Day Volunteering

‘Should a person do good,
let him do it again and again.
Let him find pleasure therein,
for blissful is the accumulation of good.’
💖 ( Dhammapada Verse 118 )

🌈 Merit is important to help us along our journey through life. It is connected with what are good and beneficial to oneself and others, and can improve the quality of the mind. While the material wealth a person gathers can be lost by theft, flood, fire, confiscation, etc., the benefit of merits follows him from life to life and cannot be lost, although it can be exhausted if no attempts are made to perform more merits. It is merit which enables a person to be reborn in the heavens, and provides him with the right conditions and support for his attainment of Nibbāna.

🏕 Dhamma Earth is preparing for Wesak Day 2019 and recruiting Volunteers for the event. We welcome you to participate in this wholesome act of volunteering service for Wesak Day 2019 to accumulate our merits.
