Taking 3 refuges, we unfold our potentials.

Taking refuge in the Buddha, we break through cowardice and limitation in our mind and come to trust the limitless possibility of growth and transformation.

Taking refuge in the Dhamma~~
We firmly abide by the natural laws made known by the Buddha and thus plant right causes for the materialization of our goal.

Taking refuge in the Saṅgha, we firmly allow those saintly disciples of the Buddha who faithfully abide by the Buddha’s Teachings guide us towards the supreme goal of cessation of suffering.

Loving-kindness~~wishing beings to be well and happy
Compassion~~wishing beings to be free from suffering
Appreciative Joy~~wishing the wealth and success of beings not be lost
Equanimity~~even mind in facing life, avoiding likes and dislikes

Regard all life’s encounters with loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity, and thus balance the emotion. When one is emotionally healthy, one can exercise wisdom well and naturally be free from many man-made, avoidable suffering.

Impermanence of Life~~

Life is impermanent, like a dream, like an illusion. Why grasp it and suffer for the grasping?

Life is impermanent. It comprises opportunities which are also impermanent. Let us cherish these opportunities which are so transcient, especially the opportunity of encountering True Dhamma, the opportunity of liberation from suffering.

Life is impermanent. Understanding the impermanence of life, the tests and trials of life become more bearable.

Cause and Effect~~

Do not worry that all the right effort spent in this life will be wasted if we fail to attain liberation before death. The Law of cause and Effect is ever true. As long as we have not attained liberation, our future lives will inherit our kamma of today. The right effort we spend today will uplift our life and thus plant the seed for liberation in future.

One who truly knows how to love oneself will abstain from causes of suffering and cultivate good causes.

Since we know all arising and perishing compounded phenomena have their cause and effect relationship, we should place effort on what good causes that we can cultivate. We can thus change our future by the present cause factor that we are cultivating.

We do not live once only. We still have future lives. Let us cherish well this present moment, taking responsibility for our future.

Throughout this beginningless cycle of birth and death, who has never become our beloved ones. So when we meet in this life, let us be kind to each other whether we happen to be naturally supportive condition or obstructive condition to each other.

In this cycle of rebirths, sometimes we are born as humans, sometimes as heavenly beings, sometimes as animals, sometimes as ghosts, demons, or hell beings. We are not always born into a fixed country or race. Understanding this truth of rebirth, why should we attach and enslave ourselves with narrow concepts of nationalism or racism?
