当菩萨经历了六年错误的苦行后，才发现了正确的中道，并以其中道如实了知十二缘起，觉悟成佛陀后，最先说的话是：
After 6 years of wrong practising in self-mortification (dukkaracariya), the Bodhisatta finally discovered the correct Middle Path for the realization of the Omniscience, truly seeing and realizing the Twelve Paṭiccasamuppāda (Dependent Origination), the Buddha made the following solemn utterance after His enlightenment:
“在生死轮回当中，我寻找了许多世，
却找不到造屋者。一再投生的确苦。
造屋者你已被见！你已不能再造屋。
你所有的椽已断，你的横粱已粉碎。
我心已证无为法。已经达到爱尽毁。”“I wandered through many births in saṃsāra, searching for the house-builder (craving) [but] found [him] not; repeated birth is suffering. O, house-builder! You are seen. You shall not build a house again. All your rafters are broken. Your ridge-pole is shattered. My mind has attained the unconditioned, obtaining the destruction of craving.”
我们因为不知道生死轮回的根本原因而一直在造苦因，所以才一而再，再而三的投生。无明的众生会以为这种苦是永无止境的下去，然而佛陀却发现了生死轮回的根本原因（造物者）而且知道了如实智见的方法，犹如黑暗中的一盏明灯，点亮了众生灭苦的希望。
Not knowing the root cause of repeated existence in the samsara, we have unwittingly done many unwholesome deeds and these made us wander restlessly with rebirths in samsara. Ignorant beings would think this suffering of rebirths is endless. However, the Buddha discovered the root cause of the rebirths in samsara and realized the ultimate truth and path to end this, just like a lamp in the dark, igniting the hope in all for the cessation of sufferings.
当我们点灯时可以思维：佛陀出现在世间是稀有之事，因为佛陀可以指引我们朝往生死轮回的熄灭。只要我们依循佛陀的教导修行，我们将能于现法自证、现证，以智慧之光彻见世间真相。愿我们能去除内心的黑暗，并且把这盏明灯传承下去，不要做传法的最后一人。
We can contemplate as we light up the candle: It is rare for the Buddha to appear in the world, because Buddha can guide us towards the cessation of sufferings in the samsara. For as long we practise in accordance to the teachings of the Buddha, with the light of wisdom, we will be able to see for ourselves and experience here-and-now the ultimate truth. May we all expel the darkness from within. At the same time, let’s continue to pass on this luminous light, lest we be the last person in the propagation of the Dhamma.
